Requested Feature request Poll: decrease colors b/w

I would like to see the following options added to the
    decrease color depth dialog

    (_) prefer pure white [253][ 253][253]
    (_) prefer pure black [ 5] [ 5] [ 5]

    These would cause
any pixel whiter than 253, 253, 253 to be set to 255,255,255 and
any pixel backer than 5,5,5 to be set to 0,0,0

    For additional information see

I am suprised no one seems to use the poll option on this bulletin board.
It seems like "just the thing" for letting the author what the community feels is important.

    So,
Please vote after reading this thread and giving it some thought.

NO (I don't like the idea.)

OTHER (I'd like to see a different algorithm)

You have a point about using the poll option.

But I don't agree about pushing the author about what's important.
    A poll is a measurement, that's it.
On other forums a poll isn't even in the Request category, but in the General Discussion one.

    Now this one:
This would be an improvement, but I chose for 'other', because I find the 253 and 5 values too arbitrary.
Maybe the background is a bit yellowish, so the blue value is probably 196.
It would be nice if the RGB values could be transferred from the color picker of IV into the dialog.
Another option in this case is an addition in the Palette Edit dialog.

      In the example suggestion:

      (_) prefer pure white [215][250][230]

I intentended (by using brackets) that the values would be input-able,
      adjustable by the user.

I did not mean to "push the author".
I have been in the software business a long time and
I really look forward to working on features users actually want.

Sorry, I didn't understand the brackets correctly.
