Requested Support for 16-bit TIFF

I work a lot with 16-bit TIFF files (coming from a microscope CCD camera), which IrfanView can open. But when these files are saved (having made modifications or using batch rename etc.), they are converted to 8-bit.

So full support for 16-bit would be highly appreciated (all the people dealing with raw and converting to 16-bit images or those with scanners would probably find that helpful too)

Rats...

I assumed, someone must have asked for that before and I searched the forum for "16-bit", but nothing came up. Should have thought about 48-bit as well.

Too bad though, that it would require a complete rework of IV. Oh well...
