Requested Greyscale permanent view mode

i asked for this feature in faststone, xnview and now here.
is it possible to make a viewmode to watch all my stuff in greyscale? i just want to switch through the pictures without klicking every time on "greyscale" or "save changes"-questions.
picasa is sadly the only programm that i know, wich has such a greyscale mode. but it is the worst viewer.
i also want a good greyscale mod, not a mode with just ab 128 or 256 grey colours, but it shold have so many grey colours like the original picture has colours.
(may be someone know a tool, wich just show a black/white (greyscale) monitor output?)

What format are your images? If they are jpg you can just check Load as grayscale under Options> Properties> JPG/PCD/GIF and view them that way.

Be careful not to save though while it is checked unless you want the images to be permanently changed to grayscale.
