Requested ESRI shapefiles as an output option?

I would love to see an option where a bitfile or TIFF could be output as an ESRI shapefile....

I think there is no chance!
Because the Esri Shapefile is a vector data format!
And IrfanView is a bitmap image viewer!

You're probably right, but the UN issued a Beta program in the late 1990s that turned an image file into a shapefile. So it seems it would be possible....

Is the tool you mention freeware/open source? Or are the group of people who developed it still around? Perhaps they, or someone with access to the source, will be real nice and make a plugin for IrfanView
