Thumbnails for Network Folders without workaround

It would be nice to open network folders in Thumbnails. Currently, you can only open local folders.

By using the workaround described here

you can open an image in a network folder, press T and watch Thumbnails in this current network folder. But again, you cannot navigate through network folders in Thumbnails.
