Option to disable index (disable file enumeration on startup)

I have a couple of dump folders that have a lot (tens of thousands) of files in them. Unfortunately, whenever I try to open a file in one of those folders, Irfanview spikes the CPU usage to 100% and takes a long time (~5-10 seconds) before it's responsive. It might not be as bad on someone else's computer, but my system is old and slow and it's impossible to get a new one at the moment. I can't process the files because every time I open one, I lose several seconds of time, which kills productivity.

There needs to be an option to disable the index function so that Irfanview doesn't enumerate all the files in a folder on startup. (I'm not sure what benefit it has anyway, I've never used it, if I need to know how many files are in the folder, I'll just look at the status bar in File Explorer. ?)

    Thanks so much in advance.
