    printing problems

Irfan 4.10 (the same goes for 3.98) craches when I click File->Print. I've noticed that Irfan remembers the last printer I've used for printing from Irfan. Which is likely the cause of my problem: since I'm using several network printers, Irfan probably cannot find the last-used printer and it crashes after it stalls for about 30 seconds.

    Any solution to this problem?

    Hi Peter,

I also use network printers. So I tried to print to unavailable printers or to set one of them as default printer. The unavailable printer is selected by default in the list but IrfanView responds quickly and never crashes. I use 4.10 on WinXP SP2.

If you're convinced the problem comes from an unavailable network printer, maybe you can try to set an available (local?) printer as default one?

Moved to Support: probably not a bug

the problem occurs only with a network printer that uses http port:

      - the last-used printer was a network printer, connected to my business network through port http://212.235.237.82/lp2

      - irfan chrashed when i tried to print on my home network, where the above-mentioned printer is not available

      - when i connected to my business network, the printing worked fine

      - this problem does not occur if the last-used printer is a network printer that uses a standard tcp/ip port.

i propose the following solution: irfan should NOT try to select the last-used printer by default, but rather the printer which is marked as default in windows.

      best regards,
      peter

        Hi peter,

Well, I tried only with local and tcp/ip printers. I can't help you further because I dont't have an http printer (I wasn't even aware it can exist). Maybe your network administrator at work could provide you with some useful help.

Not sure the good solution is that IV always use the default printer instead of the last used one. Sure that users rely on this (multiple prints). But at least IrfanView could check in a better way if the last used printer is available so that there is no crash.
