Install 64-bit 4.44 version?

I have just got back on line after many problems with internet over time. I cannot find my most recent post but thank you for the answer.

This is now my question. I have Irfanview 4.42 64-bit installed and it has been working well. Should I install the latest version, 4.44? If so, I don't know whether I first need to de-install 4.42. The thing is that I don't want to mess up and be left without a working version.

Please advise. Sorry this is such a basic question, I guess. Please help.

You do not need to de-install the previous version. The new one will just replace it. That applies to the new Plugins program too if you install that.

If you do want to keep the old versions as a backup you can just rename the existing i_view32.exe or i_view64.exe program first and leave it where it is (e.g add "_442" to the name). That will require an Administrators password though. Otherwise just copy it somewhere else for safe keeping and leave the original where it is to be overwritten by the new installation. Same applies to the plugins folder - just rename it where it is, or copy it to the same place that you put the old program file.
