How to find text string in pdf

I sometimes search for a specific word or phrase in a pdf document. Usually ctrl-F works, but it doesn't seem to with my version (4.44, 64 bit, Windows 10).

How do I perform a simple "find"?

AFAIK does IrfanView show a PDF-file as a picture, not as a text document.
You need a dedicated PDF-Viewer to extract text. My personal favourite is PDF-XChange Viewer https://www.tracker-software.com/pro...xchange-viewer.
There are also some other ones.
