bframe decoder lag -> no sound?

I played an AVI file but i heared no sound (i am pretty sure there is sound in it). Before the AVI starts there is (in a flash) a message on a black screen saying "nothing to output bframe decoder lag"
I found this message in a few forums related to Videodub, but i couldn't relate it to my question.

So why not ask the bframe decoder first?

I recall that IrfanView calls the same old media player control that was there in Win95 and is also displayed by Total Commander's lister. It needs Video for Windows (VFW) codecs. It's possible that you have a DirectShow decoder for the audio format, so that the file plays in the various media player frontends available today, but lack a VFW codec.

Getting a VFW codec and learning how to install it pays off if you also have other programs that need it, for example, VirtualDub.

My first guess is that you may need an AC-3 decoder for MSACM. Google for "AC3ACM".

IrfanView is actually no good for audio and video.
