Calling iView slideshow fromwithin IE with LOCAL UNC

    First off, I love iView!

Having made several IE pages for the purpose of viewing home videos and digital pictures, I would like to call iView fromwithin IE, however, with the ability to stay 'mofile', and over LAN.

1st: using the symple techique of a hyperlink, I am not able to call the option of slideshow - I can hyperlink: .\iView32.exe which will start iView, but it will not allow .\iview32.exe /slideshow="Year2002Pictures.txt"

2nd: I have tried using a Batch file, which, when called as a hyperlink, will start iView AND the slideshow, but ONLY when used with a full fletched destination, such as \\maincomputer\somefolder\somesubfolder\start2002S lideshow.bat

What I mean by being mobile:
If iView32.exe exists in the same directory as the slideshow.txt file, then I would like to simply call the slideshow without drive/ folder designation or only a simple .\ desigantion.

    Is that possible?

Lastly, is it possible to have iView associated with a specific file as a slideshow? I have read where people use .lst as the extension for the slideshow file. Could I associate .lst, therefor, when hyperlinking the list file it will automatically launch iView/

Thank you in advance for any help,

    Rainer

You could associate the .lst file, but it would not act as a slideshow opener.

IV is very portable, it can be run from a CD or any removable media. The .\ will be understood.

With IrfanView in the same folder as the slideshow.txt, a simple batchfile with "i_view32.exe /slideshow=slideshow.txt" will start the show.

Running from a hyperlink...I don't know. I try to avoid using IE anyway. I did some work with a portable version of K-Meleon for a CD, but that was another pot of applesauce altogether.

      Launching from IE

      Hi,

thank you for your reply, appreciated!

Though, Batch file does not seem to work over a network - locally it works, but over the LAN it doesn't find i_view32 even in the same directory.

Does anyone have experience running this from IE hyperlink? This is really driving me nuts; I have tried for weeks now,

      Rainer
