email smtp server requires password - how?

My email server requires a username and password to send mail. The email plugin allows for the server's smtp address, but how do I tell it a username and password?

IrfanView has no option to enter a username/password for sending e-mail to a SMTP server.

Don't need to. Just fill in the server's name and email-address in the settings and Send the file. After that you must (only ones) enter your name and password. I did it myself and it worked allright.

BTW, I neglected to mention IV 4.10 under WXP-Pro/SP1.

I've entered my email address and server smtp info for two different servers. I do not get a dialog asking for username or password. The email transmission fails for both. This problem is is no big problem for me, so please do not feel you need to spend time on it.
