Can't open external editor from IrfanView Thumbnails 4.2

Hello everybody. This is my first post.
Since I upgraded IrfanView to 4.2, I haven't been able to open images with an external editor from Thumbnails. External editors DO open from the main IV window.
I use Win Vista with UAC activated.
    What could be wrong?

    Hi disova,
Take a look at Options - Properties/Settings and make sure
you have the correct path and editor in Misc. 3.

You can also search for your i_view32.ini (C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.ini) open it in Notepad and take a look at:

    [Others]
    ExternalViewer=C:\Program Files\my-external-editors-folder\my-external-editor.exe

Make sure that you have the correct path and editor there.

It is possible too that you have more than one i_view32.ini file,
so you may want to change that in all of them.

    I hope this helps.

      Hi disova,

Here, it seems to work only once an image has been loaded in the main viewer.

Before you post ... fill in your OS and IV version in your profile.

Re: Can't open external editor from IrfanView Thumbnails 4.2

DVIPMAIL: It did help. Although I could not find errors in the .ini file, it was only present in my user's account and not in the administrator's one.
So, I uninstalled and reinstalled IrfanView using the administrator's account and making sure the "install for all users" option was checked during the process (I probably didn't do this the first time around).
It worked. Now I'm able to use the external editor function from IV Thumbnails.
        I appreciate the suggestion.

LAURENT: Hi. While using 4.1 and now, the image could and can be routed to an external auditor from Thumbnails without the IV main window being open, which is great when you use Thumbnails as photo organizer.

This is interesting. Things can be very messed up in Vista.
          Its: Belongs to "It"
It's: Shortened form of "It is"
          ---------------------
          Lose: Fail to keep
          Loose: Not tight

          ---------------------
          Plurals do not require apostrophes

I think it had nothing to do with Vista. The install for all users thing is in the IrfanView install program...
