The problem is, Microsoft doesn't seem to confirm that opinion. A lot of programs that ran in the preceding version of their OS do not under the next OS. That was also the case with Dos/Win31/Win95/Win98 and so on. And that applies not only our software, but our hardware too!

(it was a rhetorical example btw) Ok, you use it. So I suppose, that you expect the plugin to handle old files, but also recent ones.

Not only the software and the OS causes compatibilty problems sometimes. Programs get new versions, and sometimes they change the structure of their formats as well, or add something.
It's just that I noticed on the IV-forum recently quite a lot of problems about fileformats, which are more rarely used.
