    Problem with .exe files

I have just installed Irfan view 4.2.
Now when I click on .exe files I simply open Irfanview ans I see the icon.
I cannot even use uninstall.exe from Irfanview.
Same for windows explorer, windows media, etc....
    Any help?

    What's your problem?
What do you want to do?

If you want to uninstall, then you can also use the uninstall function of windows!

      My problem

My problem is I cannot do anything with any .exe file.
Each time I want to "use" an exe file, I open Irfan view windows.
it is exactly if all my exe extension have been changed in Jpg extenqsion for example.
I cannot used Windows unsinstall program too.

        Try to use this fix.
        IrfanPaint developer
The latest stable IrfanPaint version is the 0.4.13.70.
IrfanPaint is now open-source (released under BSD license).

It would be good to know how it happened, could help prevent other such accidents.
          Its: Belongs to "It"
It's: Shortened form of "It is"
          ---------------------
          Lose: Fail to keep
          Loose: Not tight

It's as if exe is being associated with IrfanView. Even if you do in IrfanView, I could not duplicate such a condition.

Maybe using the ASSOC command in Command Prompt might help to diagnose and solve this problem.

              How it happened

              Very simple.
I have downloaded Irfanwiew 4.2 and plugins.
I made the installation and choose to associate "all pictures" with Irfanview.
              And that's it.

Could you explain a little bit?

You might try seeing what you get when you type: assoc .exe in the Command Prompt.

                    The fix

I've used the fix but no difference.
When I start my PC, I have a around 10 error messages. For each I have an opened irfanview windows examples:
                    C\windows\system32\igfxtray.exe or jusched.exe or Alcmtr.exe....

I don't know what MItaly's fix is, you'll have to ask him. I'm guessing that you can't use Command Prompt since it is an .exe as well. You might be able to use it in another mode of your computer. Speaking of which, can you use System Restore or the like here?

                        Command Prompt

Command prompt is not working from run.
I've got also an irfanview windows with icons and cmd.exe as title.
I restart mu PC pressing F8 , then command prompt.
                        The answer seems OK
                        .exe= exefile

                          Fix is a reg file.
Which system restore? It is a new installation on a new hard disk. I did not make any restoration point

It does appear OK, but obviously not. How about changing an .exe to a .com extension? This may be what MItaly's fix does. Does it open correctly then? Make sure you display extensions first before changing.

Are you absolutely sure there are none, not even a system checkpoint?
