Only first thumbnail page prints in color

I have more than one page of thumbnails but even though I set 'printing properties' to 'color' only the first page prints in color all subsequent pages print in black and white.
I cannot find any setting which might fix this.

I select 'Create contact sheet from selected files'
and I'm using $N - $E36868(%d.%m.%y) to print each file name and date photo taken.

What do I need to do so that all prints print in color?

Did you choose Print all pages in Create Contact Sheet? Does saving the images first, then printing help?

Yes I chose 'print all pages' and yes I realise that I could create images and then print them but that is more difficult.

I have tried setting my printer preferences to always print in color and that fixes the problem of the second and subsequent pages printing in black and white (they all print in color) HOWEVER even if I set for double sided printing (which my printer can do) the sheets print on one side only.
It seems to me that perhaps there could be a bug in Irfanview - could this be correct?
