Unable to open eps

I am trying to open two eps files. I know they are OK because I can open them in Word of all things!

The error message is
Decode Error! .. Invalid EPS file (no EPS preview image available, try AFPL Ghostscript PlugIn)

IrfanView version 4.20
Plugins version 4.20 (I installed the complete set with irfanview_plugins_420_setup.exe)
Operating system: Windows XP SP3

I installed GhostScript using gs863w32.exe. I assume that this is the same as AFPL Ghostscript but don't see how to make it a plugin.

Help would be much appreciated

Thank you, Frank. I had done a search but the real issue seems to have been finding the right version of GhostScript for which you provided the link.

I had to:

• Uninstall (newer version of) GhostScript
• Uninstall IrfanView
• Download AFPL GhostScript 8.54 from SourceForge and install
• Finally install IrfanView and then the plugins
