FAQ #5: How to reduce saved file size

I think FAQ #5 ("How to reduce saved file size from XX to YY KB?") should also include as an answer:

Use the File>Save-for-Web menu option with JPEG output and either adjust the quality setting or press the [Compress to size] button

I prefer this to the RIOT plugin for the immediate image quality feedback.
