    Thumbnail borders

Hi folks, what an awesome prog.. I'm still learning the ropes but it seems to do what I need it to do for my web work, however I can't seem to find any info or settings for this ONE items.. how to remove the black borders from the images?!

It would seem that if you go to create an HTML page from the folder of images, the prog automatically creates a square box and puts your image in it.. Not overly horrible a problem but when you go to apply that thumbnail to a web design, those extra pixels become a horrible problem. I can see where I can change this by "edit/Auto Crop Border / Ctrl / Shift Y" but you can't auto batch this to a folder of images.. Or can you?!

Other question is "why" do the square box thing in the first place? It's changing the images' dimensions..

Thanks in advance if you have the quick solution.. but doing C/S/Y and then save each photo from 100 pic folders isn't gonna cut it for me, unfortunately..

    Cheers

IrfanView itself uses square thumbnails in its browser. It provides for a consistent size and appearance. With the same color background as the thumbnail you can't even tell.

If you wish to auto crop, you can do it in batch conversion using the advanced options.

You can also make your own thumbnails for your HTML pages, provided you match the pages' instructions.
