IPTC data not shown

I did some editing in Photoshop and saved a photo as a PSD. Originally I didn't save any IPTC data but decided to add some with Irfanview, but when I displayed the Image Info in Irfanview the IPTC button wasn't presented. I went back into Photoshop, added some IPTC keywords, and tried to search for the photo in Irfanview Thumbnails. But the IPTC data is not recognized and is still not available in Irfanview 4.20.
Photoshop verified that the IPTC data really is present, so what can I do to make Irfanview recognise it?
I can add IPTC keywords to JPEGS straight from the camera, so why not with data added by Photoshop?
Am I doing something wrong?

Can you put IPTC-data with Irfanview and read it there?
I have version 4.25 and this work fine.
I have some problems if only YYYY is set in Irfanview and I look for IPTC-data with other programms. Some of them will not show up YYYY at all, other show YYYY-1-1.
I think there is still some dust around TPTC in many graphic programms.
