Solved Rotated Images coning up black

I call Iview (4.25) from a batch file that resizes and saves with minimal compression.

If I try to use a rotated image, it comes out black.

If I rotate it back again, it works.

I was using /advancedbatch. (RIOT) To check I removed that call, and the problem persists.

    Any help appreciated.

AH! It only seems to be PSPImages (Paint Shop Pro). They used to work OK.

Well, as stated before, PSP is a layered format, so you only will see the first layer or background in IrfanView. If the image doesn't look right in the viewer, it will not convert correctly either. I cannot confirm (don't use PSP), but I believe only PSP 8 or less is supported by IrfanView anyway.

You may have better luck opening/converting that image with XnView, which likely supports layers. Once you get it converted to something supported, you can send that to IrfanView/RIOT. Or you can use the clipboard in conjunction with the command line...

But this only happened since I grabbed 4.25. The shots are not layered. I have had trouble with not seeing layers, but never with black images, and only when rotated.

The images look fine in IView.

Having to go here and there to convert to a suitable format completely negates the idea of a quick solution to resizing for upload. I will have to stop recommending my system, just in case.

Can you upload a good and a problem PSP image for me to inspect? It's always possible it could be a bug if the previous version responded positively with the same files and settings.

            Hey.

I have just had to retreat to 4.22 and old plugins, because this morning I suddenly started getting a failed jpg save "bytesize or header details must be stated' or something very like that. A couple of people have reported other failures that were not on all files, but with similar messages.

So I can confirm that this thread's problem is definitely 4.25 related.

How do I upload a pspimage? I can resize them to 800*, but will the forum accept pspimage? I can simply pop up the non-rotated and the rotated version.....no it only take psd, and that is not a problem.

            Let's know and thanks.

If the forum doesn't accept a format, then ZIP it.

You know it works now, don't you? I reinstalled and it works. I had already tried that!

                So. Sorry and thanks.
