    Desktop Thumbnails have disappeared

I just reloaded my computer: formatted, reinstalled Windows and applications, etc. Before the reload, all of the Irfanview pictures that were saved on my desktop appeared as thumbnails, but now they all show the Itfanview icon instead. I have changed the View settings on my Desktop folder to show all icons as thumbnails, but that didn't chang how they appear on my desktop. I don't remember how I got them to appear as thumbnails in the first place. Any suggestions?

You can show Thumbnails on the Desktop in Vista, but not in XP (at least not without the help of other software).

Are these BMPs? Those are the only files I believe that can be shown as thumbnails by IrfanView (other than the obvious ICO).

Options>Properties/Settings>Extensions>Use Thumbnails for BMPs (if BMP associated). If you're still using 4.10, then that setting is hidden in the Miscellaneous button on the Extension tab!

      Nope, not BMPs

They were all JPG files and they showed up on the desktop as thumbnails. I wish I could remember how I got it to do that.

        OK....never mind!

I figured it out. It's a program called Xentient Thumbnails that does it. The Xentient website doesn't have it anymore but there are download websites that still do if anyone is interested in it.
