Official Irfanview Portable Launcher

Would it be possible to have an official irfanview portable launcher? i believe that the .zip file leave some traces on the host computer, but with a launcher the traces would be removed.

From my experience of such things, it is more likely to leave a bigger mess. At least U3 is guilty of dumping itself all over and not really cleaning up much. As long as you don't touch file association or other registry fiddling when you use IrfanView in portable mode, about all it leaves is an empty folder. That's not much to get paranoid about.
