I had a ricoh printer scanner connected to our network. tech guys couldnt get adobe 9 to see scanner and recommended irfanview. it works and scans perfectly. any idea why it works and adobe doesn't (I have to batch scan pdf then combine into one file using adobe. bit of a hassle. any ideas? thanks Linus

Welcome, linus. I can only guess that the Adobe guys left out Ricoh, when writing Adobe 9, while Irfan did not!
You should actually write to the Adobe guys - hopefully you will not only receive a reply, they will address the issue promptly too!
Idle curiosity - did the Ricoh printer-scanner work with earlier versions of Reader? And does printing work with Reader 9? (You mention that the scanner does not work, so was wondering if the printer function worked...)
Finally, have you tried using the Multipage PDF feature of IrfanView? See attached screenshot! Could save you the trouble of switching back and forth between Reader and irfanView!Attached Files -
