    Spanish language plugin

I am using the version 4.25 of Irfanview under Windows 7.
When I try to download the plugin for Spanish language, my antivirus software (Trendmicro Officescan) detects a virus and deactivates downloading.
I have never had this problem with previous versions of Irfanview and of MS Windows.
Unfortunately, the plugin for Spanish language corresponding to previous versions does not work with 4.25.
Does anybody know a solution for this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    V4.25

    Hi fjmedina,

I use G Data InternetSecurity 2010 and can't find any virus in the (spanish) language files!
Maybe your antivirus software doesn't work correctly!

    What have you tried?
Only the Installer version of the spanish language file?
    Or also the Zip version?

    regards
    Frank

      Frank, thanks for your input.
The problem appears with both installer and zip files and the virus/malware detected is called PACK_Generic.001
I don't understand very well the description that the antivirus software gives for this risk, but I interpret that this is an advice of potential danger more than an actual damage.
Do you recommend to close tha antivirus software before downloading the file?
      Thanks again.
      fjmedina.

Occasionally an AV app. detects a match of some character string of its database in some file, causing false alarm.

Downloading a file is not risky anyway. As long as you don't activate/open/run it, nothing can go wrong.
No file on your system can start running by itself without a command. And so it should be.

So scanning while downloading is an unnecessary increase in download time.
If the file is saved on the HD, then do a scan locally of the specific file before doing anything else with it.

If you want a double check by other scanners, you can use this site

        Rest In Peace, Sam!

fjmedina, do ensure that you have downloaded both IrfanView 4.25 as well as the Plugins from mirror sites mentioned on the IrfanView website alone. This is important, for other sites may slyly add viruses/ spyware or other types of malware, before offering IrfanView for download!

If your Trend Micro still shouts "Virus" at you, take Sam's advise and get the file checked at the link he has provided in the previous post. I would advise an online scanner such as BitDefender, but then,
          1. If you have downloaded the files from a legit source, it is Trend Micro thats the problem, as correctly inferred by both Frank and Sam - AntiVirus solutions have been known to falsely identify viruses, giving the non-existent virus a name as well!
          2. an online scanner is thorough, but the process takes lots more time in comparison with offline scans

Personally, I have been using Norton 360, right from Version 1 to the latest Version 4 and love it, despite it being priced higher!
