Trouble running slideshow

I am trying to run this
"C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.exe" /slideshow=C:\pics
and all I am getting is a black screen anyone have any ideas why that would be?
yes there is pics in the file

To see whether it is the command line or the slideshow setup that is giving trouble try opening Irfanview normally, open C:\pics at the first image in the folder and press Ctrl+W. If that runs the slideshow OK then it is probably the command line. Tell us what are you trying to run it from? Command prompt, a batch file, a script?

If the slideshow does not run properly using Ctrl+W then check the slideshow settings and do make you sure you tell us if you are trying to do anything at all unusual in the slideshow or setup.

I am trying to run this through "run" so I can hopefully have a batch file on startup to run a slideshow. The only unusal stuff I did is make it a loop and take off text.

I tried it from Run (in Vista) and it works fine from there as well.
I assume that your image files are located directly in C:\pics, not in subdirectories?

yea I made the file there so i can type less and yes there are no subdirectories.

Thanks for the help. I just reinstalled the program and it works now.
