Tile different images on large canvas

Hello - I just cant seem to get this to work:
I need to illustrate how multiple 800X600 images looks on an 2560*1600 canvas (monitor).
I can make and save a canvas of 2560*1600 pixels, but when I insert (ctrl-v) a copy of a 800*600 image, my 2560*1600 canvas changes size to 800*600. In PSP it was called something like 'insert floating image'.
I have tried the panorama function, but it doesn't quite do the trick.
Could someone point out what Im missing? (Using Win Xp and version 4.27)
    Best regards, Jakob

You may create a pdf using the tile options in the ImPDF settings.
Then you can show this PDF in fullscreen mode.

      Hi Jakob
In Irfanview you have to paste into a selection. Otherwise, as you found, the whole image is replaced with what you are pasting. If you want to create a selection of exactly 800*600 you can choose Create custom crop selection from the Edit menu (or press Shift+C). Don't worry about the word "crop" in that name -it's good for pasting as well. Probably best to just set X and Y to low numbers to make sure the selection you create does not stretch off the image. Then when the selection is applied you can move it to where you want by dragging it with the Right mouse button pressed down.

Thankyou Mij, that was the solution I wanted. I would never have guessed that 'crop' could be used this way, but nevermind it works!
