    Setting custom thumbnail sizes

    Hi,

In the "Thumnbail options" dialog, there's a drop-down list to choose the size of the displayed thumbnails. However, this only has fixed sizes, and square ones at that. Is there any way of entering a custom size for example to get a 4:3 ratio?

I suppose I could generate square thumbnails then batch crop them separately.....

    Thanks,

    Lindsay

No, the "window" for each thumbnail is always square. The thumbnail fitted into that window is the shape of the original image though.

I do not understand what you are intending to batch crop. If you extract the thumbnails, as a Contact sheet for instance, you can specify the size and shape of them more precisely.

      Hi,

Many thanks for the reply. It's mainly for thumbs for a web gallery - most of the pictures are a standard ratio (1024x768 pixels, a 4:3 ratio) but a reasonable fraction are random sizes. So what I wanted was to generate 4:3 ratio thumbnails for all images - this would result in a neat fit for the 1024x768 images, and then I wanted to fit whatever other sizes of images I have into the same sized thumbnail box.

Sorry if that's not too clear ;-) I'll maybe just stick with square thumbs for now!

      Thanks,

      Lindsay
