No thumbnails for movies! Please help

Irfanview Thumbnails came in very handy in displaying a frame from the video file as a thumbnail, whenever I needed to hunt for videos in my video directories.

I needed to perform a system recovery, and re-install my programs. I made sure to install Irfanview plug-ins, as well. But Irfanview Thumbnails is still presenting the generic Windows movie icon for all thumbnails.

I don't remember if I needed to do anything special the last time, in order to get thumbnails for movies, but there seems to be nothing one can do with the "Options" or "View" menus in Irfanview Thumbnails. "Set Thumbnail Options" doesn't offer much, besides choosing Resample.

Would you please help me get my movie thumbnails back? Thank you in advance.

Do you get a frame from the video if you open the folder where the file is located or just in IrfanView? You might need to associate your video extensions with Media Player. My video thumbs always display as frames when they're associated with MP, but others apps can't seem to do it for some reason.

Pdun459, I really appreciate your helping hand.

Yes, frames do display within the folders the video files are located.

My video extensions are associated with Media Player -- at least Media Player Classic, which is what I prefer to use. If relevant, I also installed "K-Lite_Codec_Pack_640_Full" (which gave me the option to associate with Media Player Classic), and afterwards WMC was transformed to a peculiarly pumped-up version called "Home Classic."

Before I performed the System Recovery, everything was the same, except the Codec Pack was a lighter version, which retained the basic version of Media Player Classic. I'd have imagined these factors should have nothing to do with Irfanview Thumbnails' ability to display movie thumbnails. I'd be grateful for further guidance.

I don't know then. You might try associating the extensions with IrfanView and see what happens. Sorry I'm not of more help. Hopefully someone else can shed some light.
