    Batch rename and copied files

I have Vista and whenever I move files having the same name as files in the destination folder I get a dialogue with three options. On occasion I need to choose "Copy, but keep both files." The result is the file I move gets named ***** (2).jpg. For example, if the original file is Sample008.jpg, the one I move gets renamed Sample008 (2).jpg.

Good enough so far, but then if I try to batch rename the folder, IrfanView doesn't seem to be able to rename the copied file. It will rename the original one, but not the copied one, the one with (2) in the name.

Has anyone else encountered this and were you able to fix it?

I have no problem renaming files that include (2) in Vista.
I assume that your attachment shows the file names after the batch operation. What are the names before the operation, what Name pattern are you using and what does the processing box say about them when you are running the batch?
You only need to tell us about the 2 files you have ringed in your attachment, not the whole lot.

Today it seems to be working so it must have been a glitch. Thanks for your reply Mij. At least I know it's not the program.
