Comments in slideshow txt files

For a slideshow, I created a long list of filenmes as .txt file. It would be nice if a comment line, starting e.g. with a special character, could be added between file name like

C:\pictures\sam_0001.JPG
C:\pictures\sam_0002.JPG
C:\pictures\sam_0012.JPG
C:\pictures\sam_0005.JPG
; Berlin pictures:
C:\pictures\sam_0101.JPG
C:\pictures\sam_0221.JPG
C:\pictures\sam_2201.JPG
;Paris picturs:
C:\pictures\sam_0031.JPG
C:\pictures\sam_0431.JPG

Is this possible? Does Irfan view accept lines with comments?

AFAIK there is no way to make Irfanview accept a line or part of a line as a comment.

If you have Suppress errors when playing checked in the slideshow dialog, then your .txt file list as above will play as a slideshow but each time it reaches one of your comment lines and discovers that it is not a valid file the previous image will remain showing until the next valid image has been selected either automatically after the set display interval or manually.

The exception is the London pictures heading on the first line. There is no previous image to display when the slideshow first starts so Irfanview always displays an error message if the first line is not a valid file even if the option not to do so is checked. The show will still run but the initial error message has to be manually cancelled or it will remain on-screen throughout the show.
