Can't get images into the "Input files" when making a batch rename

    Hi there
When I try to put some images (PNG for example) into the "Input files"-thing, they don't appear!

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it is the files or something completely different =__=
It's really annoying because then I can't rename any of the pictures I want to rename

Maybe I didn't explain this very well, but I don't know what to say, nothing really happens. Please ask me if you don't understand a word of what I've been writing ...

    Hope to get some help

    UPDATE:
I think it is because it's PNG files.. but how/where can I convert them into JPG? please help

If the "Input files" - thing you are talking about is the Batch conversion dialog then make sure that Files of type: is set to "Common Graphics files" or "All files"

      Hi Mij and thanks
But it does stand on "All files"
I've taken a screen shot shortly after pushing "Add all"

      Maybe that helps?

A strange one. What happens if you select one or more files and press "Add" rather than "Add all" ?
What version of Irfanview are you using? I seem to recall a bug like this way back in one old version (v3.98 I think).
The Language version you are using looks a bit odd too. Some dialog in English and some in another language.

          Hi Charlie's angel,

Which version of IrfanView you're using?
(If not the current V4.28 - why not?)
Which language file (and version) you're using?
And do you use the same plugin version as the program version?

Can you give us the file "i_view32.ini" of your IrfanView version to see what's happen?!
(Please upload this file as compressed zip archive into the forum!)

          regards
          Frank

            @ Frank & Mij:
I'm using the newest version, and I think that I'm using the English language file (the two things standing in another language is Danish and I think it's because the language on my computer is Danish - it's not anything unusual)
plugin?? I just downloaded it from the link you gave Frank Hope that was right?

which one is that? the one with the black background with white text telling about what I'm doing with the program?
Where do I find this file and how do I recognise it? - in the folder with the program I have tree things called "i_view32", the program itself, the "help"-thing and then the one on the black screen with white text :/
(when you say upload to the forum you are talking about doing what I also did with the picture above, right?)

I notice that there is no .png file extension shown for the files in the "Look in" (Sog i) window at the top although they are identified as png in the "File name" (Filnavn) box.

There can be strange issues associated with incorrect file extensions, so you may find that it can be solved by going to Options >Properties/Settings >File handling in the main viewer and unchecking Ask to rename if incorrect extension in the Save/rename section.

You can also drag and drop files from the "Look in" window directly into the File listing area to bypass the name checking that goes on when using Add or Add all.

                • As I've said: The name of the file is "i_view32.ini" and to found in IrfanView program folder where you can find also the executable program file! Please upload this file as compressed zip archive!

But could it be also possible that the name of your picture folder includes invalid characters?
                • Is the name really only "Blood Kiss"?
                • Or what are these strange symbols in the screenshot?

@ Mij: I tried everything you wrote, but seems like Frank spotted my mistake!
Thank you for using your time to try and help me

@ Frank: OMG!! that was the problem There was some invalid characters!! Thank you so much!! When I deleted those characters it worked fine ^-^

You've both been a great help, thank you so much for trying to help me out!

By the way Frank I couldn't see the .ini anywhere in the IrFanView folder, maybe because I have a Windows comp? even if I opened them nothing said anything about .ini
