I want to use IrfanView on a USB flash drive

    Hi,

I want to use IrfanView on a USB flash drive. I know that I copy the program folder from:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\IrfanView"
    To my flash drive.

    My questions are:

1.) I have IrfanView installed on my computer using Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. Can I use this flash drive on any machine using a supported operating system? Or just those with Windows 7?

2.) Is there a way I can keep the INI file in this folder:
    "C:\Users\"USERNAME"\AppData\Roaming\IrfanView\i_v iew32.ini"
on the flash drive instead of their machine or do I have to delete the file manually?

3.) Are there any registry keys added to their computer?

    Thanks

    In answer to your questions
    1) Should work on a computer with any version of Windows (Paint plugin does not work with Win98 or earlier).
    2) Delete the INI file that you have copied from the Program files folder. When you run the Irfanview program from the flash drive it will build a new INI file in the folder it is in. You can copy the INI from the Appdata folder instead but the default options in a new file are usually a better starting point because they will not include lots of invalid paths. Do not use that INI file taken from the Program files folder though because that will build a new INI in the Appdata folders of the host computers it is run on.
    3) Changes to the registry on host computers can be made by checking some of the selections in the Extensions tab of the Options menu. Windows 7 should ensure that these changes are not harmful but they could inconvenience the owners if incorrect programs open subsequently, so best to leave everything unchecked there except Load custom file types ...
