EXIF plugin loaded, but not showing up when I need it for JPGs

I'm having a heck of time figuring this out.
I downloaded (updated to) Irfanview 4.28 and attempted to download plugins, MSVCRT.DLL and
PLUGIN.DLL from the Ifranview website. I did this because I want the EXIF plug in.
I downloaded the zip, extracted to the system folder as the readme.txt told me to do. I opened a jpg I took from my camera, and irfanview says I don't have a EXIF plugin when I click on the EXIF info button.
I tried extracting the two DLL files in my system folder and then tried system 32 folder. I then tried extracting into my irfanview folder plugins and still no luck.
It shows that they are in the irfanview "plugins" when I view all the installed plugins from my program. BUT it does say unknown under version and unknown under info and formats columns in that window.
    Any suggestions.
    I use Vista 64 bit.
    Thank you.

I think you have misunderstood. Those two dll files , MSVCRT.DLL and PLUGIN.DLL are special files that enable a few old Adobe 8bf filters to function.
The Irfanview plugins package, that contains among others the EXIF.DLL file that you need, requires that you download and install irfanview_plugins_428_setup.exe (or the equivalent zip package).

      Ok, got it working

Thanks, I was confused. I downloaded the correct one successfully, and it's working.

I am having a cropping problem since downloading 4.28, but I will leave that for another day and another thread.
