    Wallpaper error message

    When in Irfanview, I select a photo to be set as a wallpaper. I get an error message: """"""""":BMP Save error! Can't open file for writing:
    "C:\Users\Owner\AppDate\Roaming\Irfanview\Irfanvie w_Wallpaper .bmp"

    What could be the cause? I did have a virus on my computer a couple of weeks ago and this error has appeard ever since. That could be the reason but not sure how to fix it.

    Hey Marcel65,

    Just wondering, is the file name of your photo really "Irfanvie w_Wallpaper .bmp"? Perhaps this is just a typo when you posted the bug to the forum, but it might be worth double-checking.

    BTW, what was the name of the virus you had? And did you get it resolved for sure?

    Just saying.

      You need to check the permissions on C:\Users\Owner\AppDate\Roaming\Irfanview\ and its contents -- it could be that the virus caused some security settings to be changed. See if there is a file named IrfanView_Wallpaper.bmp in it, and what its status is. There could be a read-only file. That's all I can think of, because you should have full permissions to that folder.

      @crumpelfungus -- the name -- it's a typo. He-he, I like your handle.
      Its: Belongs to "It"
      It's: Shortened form of "It is"
      ---------------------
      Lose: Fail to keep
      Loose: Not tight

      ---------------------
      Plurals do not require apostrophes

        Crumplefungus - Yeah, my typo. i left out the 'w' in Irfanview. The virus was some sort of malware. I had remote assistance to get rid of the virus through my anti-virus company. And matera? Thanks for the tips on permissions. I will check that out.
