    Slow scrolling of large images

When I view any image larger than my desktop size (1600x1200) 1:1, scrolling via the mouse scroll wheel or the scroll bar is very slow and lags. I've used IrfanView for at least a couple of years, and it's always done this. Using Windows Picture & Fax Viewer to view the same images is not nearly as slow. Any ideas?

It's a complaint having come up in some other threads as well before. Alas, so far IV works that way.
You can imagine what I have to experience working on a 651 MHz machine.
I guess this has to do with refreshing the video-memory in some way.
Somebody suggested to use the OpenGL driver for this. Clever idea.

What OpenGL driver would that be?
