    Capture/Screenshot - Fullscreen

    Hi,

I've checked FAQs and Wiki, but could not find a solution, so...

I have been using IV for making screenshots in an online game (Uru Live) for a while. I always play in windowed mode, at a lesser resolution (1280x960) than my monitor/graphics card setting (1600x1200), and screenshots turn out okay. Recently I upgraded to Vista Home Premium 32-bit, and IV 4. When I switch my game to full-screen mode at max resolution, all screenshots turn out as black screens. I have tried the three different capture modes (Whole desktop, Foreground window, Foreground window-client area) but they all turn out black. Any help would be appreciated.

    Vista Home Premium 32-bit
    nVidia GeForce 7800 GSOC (256mb)
    Forceware driver 158.24 (6/1/07)
    Set to native resolution 1600x1200
Game: Myst Online:Uru Live (uses PhysX engine)

    Hi fallstar,

    welcome here

I am not sure, but isn´t that part of the new vista rights management ?

What you can do: Just disable the hardware- acceleration (can be found on the graphic card dialog)

    ----

    Information:

    Vista praphics hardware

One possibility to turn it off (hardware acceleration):

    1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
    2. Double click Personalization and select Display Settings.
    3. Click Advanced Settings.
    4. Click Change Settings on the Troubleshooting tab.
    5. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None.
    6. Click Apply and then click OK to accept the new setting and close the dialog box.
    7. Click OK to close the Display Properties dialog box.
    8. Restart Windows.

Thank you for the quick reply Steve

I will give that a try. Also, I believe there is a similar setting in-game, but I think that one is off. I'll double-check that for sure...and then report back.

I was not able to change my hardware acceleration settings. When I go into Display properties/Advanced/Troubleshooting, The button to change settings is grayed out, and below it says "Your current display driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware acceleration settings." So I went into my nVidia control panel, Manage 3D Settings tab, and the following screenshot is what I can see...

        Screenshot

Also, I ran dxdiag on my system, and within the results under Display settings, I found:
        - DDraw Status: Enabled
        - D3D Status: Enabled
        - AGP Status: Enabled

So, I am not sure how to disable hardware acceleration through the normal means.
