Dutch Language File

A question mainly prompted by curiosity.

The Dutch Language File (Nederlands.zip) contains two files: Nederlands1.dll (dated 01-01-2002, size 50.176b) and Nederlands2.dll (dated 18-10-2007, size 38.400b). Dutch appears to be the only language showing this phenomenon.

Why is this? What's the difference?

Two different translations by two different translators probably. Swedish used to have two versions as well.

I'm one of the two different translators (nederlands2.dll). The other is by Tim Naert. There used to be a third translator as well.
Which one you like is up to you.
I started translating a couple of years ago (3.90 if I recall), mainly because it used to take a couple of weeks before a Dutch translation appeared.

So I happen to be using your version.
I just compared a bit, and I noticed a typo in Tim's version ("kopië ren") plus imo the wrong equivalent for 'lossless' ("compressieloos").
Translation in Dutch is a difficult job, because we integrate a lot of english words, so there must be doubts when to use what in a translation.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I am reassured now that no terrible secret is lurking behind these at first sight duplicate files. In the future I shall choose both in turn, until the day that Irfanview will choose my custom language automatically at installation -- as many programs do. At that moment there won't be place anymore for multiple translations, I suppose (and hope, for having to decide between two translations was actually somewhat confusing for me).

I think it would be better if there was just one translation (but I know we live in a free world ) - there are some translation choices I like better in the one, and some from the other translation, maybe together you could create a better one. I slightly prefer Tim's version, but that one has the (encoding?) bug as mentioned. I could theoretically create my own, but that's not as easy as it is with Total Commander or Opera with their plain text files.

Maintaining IV is something of a PITA. TC is a piece of cake compared to IV.
