How to print with a desired margin or no margin?

I love Irfanview and have been using it literally every day for more than 20 years..

I have just one issue with it: When I print an image, it always adds a small blank margin on the left and at the top. This occurs with all the printers I've used over the years, including those capable of borderless printing. The forced margin seems to vary in width and is usually in the range of 0.15 to 0.25 inch.

    Example 1: If I print a 1200x1800 image at 300 dpi, it doesn't fit on 4x6 paper.

Example 2: If I print a scanned document at the same dpi on the same size paper, it doesn't fit.

By entering a paper size that's slightly wider than the one I'm actually using, I can get the left margin I want. But this solution is rather clunky. Besides it doesn't work at the top.
Can anything be done about this?

I just came across a note I made to myself several years ago. It reminds me that Irfanview has a borderless print option - something I'd forgotten about and failed to notice in the print menu. I'll try it when I have time and see what happens.

It's no good. Borderless print setting does print without borders on the left and at the top, but crops the image on those two sides and leaves white borders on the right and at the bottom.

I tried Photoshop (I have the ancient v7) and it does a perfect borderless print. Doesn't crop any part of the image either, although it lacks the versatile printing options Irfanview has.

So it certainly looks as if it's Irfanview that's preventing a true borderless print. Is there a workaround for this?
