Batch conversion and rename does not update rotation in folder image

I have been using the batch conversion/rename function for several years to go through and fix rotations on photo batches. About a week ago, the batch window stopped immediately showing the new rotation of the items.

    So in other words:
    1. I choose a group of photos to convert and rename, choose a rotation, add them to a batch, and run the batch.
    2. The photos are saved with same name over the original files (these aren't the real originals, those are somewhere else, but anyway...)
    3. So, let's say it's a left rotation, just for discussion. Up until this started happening, the images displayed in the folder would immediately show their new left-rotated orientation as soon as the batch completed. That has now stopped.
    4. If I get out of the folder and then back in, voila, they show with the rotation completed.

This is a real pain because it's harder to keep track of where I am in a long folder of photos with having to pop in and out every time I complete a batch.

Has anyone else had this problem, or have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

The problem you describe seems more related to your PC and your OS than to Irfanview. Maybe your pc has too little memory for this task or the graphics driver
needs to be updated. IV performs its task correctly, as you can see from the images after leaving the folder and reopening it.

It's definitely not memory, there is plenty, a ThinkCentre only about a year old with 8 gig of RAM. I'm only processing maybe a max of 30 photos on each iteration and they're not big, 1200 pixels on the long side. I wonder if a Windows update screwed something up. Appreciate your response though! Still hoping somebody will come along that's seen the same problem.

Whoops, forgot to say, checked graphics driver and it is up to date. Thanks!

I know a rare problem of IrfanView, when you open a big picture a then go to the next one. But it's not that IV shows the old version of pictures that have been altered.

Well, it does turn out to be a Microsoft problem. I went in to system settings and checked my default app. It was set to Microsoft Photo. Changed it to Irfanview, and now the rotations show up properly again.

Changed it back to Microsoft Photo, problem re-appears. I'm guessing that something about the most recent Microsoft update either made a change to the Microsoft Photo app that caused this problem, or ate my old default app settings. I can't even remember what I had as the default app before this started happening. So, I will just leave the default on Irfanview and carry on. Thanks for your help!
