    Choozing Optimal Scaling Parameters

Anyone can suggest or point to a Link & Tutorial on:

How to select optimal resolution, resizing Method, sequence, Sharpen parameters, when Scaling Images? How this selection depends on the Image Type, File Format, original and desired size, scaling Up & Down, etc?

    Dear arnymars,
A lot of questions to answer! To my mind there's no optimal resolution for an image. That depends on the aim of use. To print an image the resolution has to be at least 300 dpi. If you like to put the picture in a website, 72 dpi is enough, for that's the same as your monitorscreen. The parameters of sharpen an image depends altogether on the source image. I wouldn't advise scaling an image to a size larger than the source.
