    Max amount of punctuation marks when saving a picture in Win 10 with Iranview. .

    Hi there,

    To save images, I use the free program IrfanView. Normally I could add up to 110 punctuation marks to a file without any problems and I immediately saved them in a subfolder on my hard disk.

    But for some reason that is no longer possible, and the maximum has become 100 punctuation marks.
    If I don't save the same image directly in the right folder but just somewhere on my C drive e.g. on the desktop then I can save it with 110 punctuation marks with Ifranview.

    Strange, how is this possible?
    I don't think there is a virus because I use a paid version of Norton.
    Who has an answer?

    Thank you.

    I assume you're talking about the filename.

    FWIW, I just save a JPG to the name: alpha()()$#$#@!()()$#$#@!()()$#$#@!()()$#$#@!()()$ #$#@!()()$#$#@!()()$#$#@!()()$#$#@!()()$#$#@!()()$ #$#@!()()$#$#@!()()$#$#@!

    which is 126 characters long, 121 punctuation marks.

      You are probably hitting the MAX_PATH limit when you save your file with a long file name to a sub-folder.

      See:

      Starting in Windows 10, version 1607, MAX_PATH limitations have been removed from many common Win32 file and directory functions. However, your app must opt-in to support the new behavior.
