Support for HEIF format (with installed HEVC extensions/codec, see Win10)

Finally, so I tried it, but only get a black screen when I load a HEIC image.

The following Codecs are installed on my PC:
    HEVC: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9n4wgh0z6vhq
    HEVC: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9nmzlz57r3t7
    HEIF: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9pmmsr1cgpwg

    yep, even the paid one.

IrfanView 4.52 64-bit + Plugins are installed. So what else do I need to do and respect?

There is no error when I load the HEIC image. The title of windows says, the image is open. When I go image and information it also recognize compression HEVC.
The image is from iPhone XS Max.

The image loads fine in the Microsoft photos app of Windows 10.
Windows 10 Build 17763.194 is in use.

Try changing the Window view colour from black to something else. Perhaps the image is black with a black transparent background?

Okay, I changed the general window color of IrfanView to purple. So when I start IrfanView, the main area is purple.

I drag & drop the HEIC file again in IrfanView and it goes black. Like 'the image is black', but it's not.

It was worth a try. I don't have any HEIC files, nor the codecs, so someone else will have to help.

Or send a bug report to Irfan Skiljan (Help, About) with the HEIC file.

HEIC example is attached, if you like to check, but I will also E-Mail the developer. Is it loading in your IV?

Were you able to figure out what needs to be done to view HEIC images in irfan view?

I am using Version 4.52 ( 64 bit ) with web plugin. Whenever i try to open HEIC image, it shows me too a black screen. It is because of some missing plugin?
Could someone provide me url for the plugin that needs to be installed?

The history of changes for 4.52 says:

              • Support for HEIF format (with installed HEVC extensions/codec, see Win10)

No mention there of HEIC. The links to the codecs are given above. Plugins are not used for this AFAIK.

So I bought a Samsung phone and was trying to view the HEIF format pictures it took. I'm using Irfanview 64 on Windows 10 1903 & got the black screen issue that the OP and others mentioned. Irfanview is properly associated as the default app top open .heic pics.
I managed to view them after installing CopyTrans HEIC for Windows. While installing this codec, it offers to uninstall the HEIF codec app that windows came with.
