Thread: Bitmap display distorted

  1. #1

    Default Bitmap display distorted

    See attached file.

Displays correctly in Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer, MSPaint.
    Displays distorted in irfanview.

Please note that I cannot upload the bitmap directly. Its dimensions are 2903x2895 bpp which exceeds the maximum upload size, so I uploaded a 7z of the bmp instead.

The file is bugged. It also opens distorted in Serif PhotoPlus X8. I saved it as PNG to make it small enough to attach.
Feel free to send a bug report to Irfan Skiljan, but I suspect he will just say that the bug is not in IrfanView. Let us know what he says.

What program was used to create the bitmap?

Your BMP writing program hasn't accounted for row alignment to 32-bit words. The width is not divisible by 4 and had to be padded with 1 byte every row for the BMP format. The file size indicated in the header is 2895 bytes short, which is the height of your image.

Thank you very much. I will try to convince the creator of the file to fix the writing code
