    Printing images n-up ?

First post, occasional user of IrfanView, please bear with me.

I want to print a number of images per page, but the standard formats built into Windows don't always suit me. As far as I can see, IrfanView prints thumbnails (better than native Windows - it gets portrait and landscape formats right) but doesn't allow other arrangments of multiple images per page. Have I missed something?

    Thanks...

[Edit] Ack, looks like I'm in the wrong forum area. Apologies.

Printing from IrfanView is quite limited. You can create a contact sheet to print multiple images on a sheet, but you have limited control over size, position, and orientation.

I always recommend using a DTP program for printing. PagePlus SE is free and will probably do all that you need. It is easy to resize or rotate image on the page to suit the paper, and you can add caption text, drop shadows, lines for crop marks, or borders.

Thanks... I actually have PagePlus 10. I don't think SE is compatible with Vista, and 9 only runs as admin. Serif's compatibility list is buried in their FAQs, here: http://support.serif.com/KB/a213/faq...ompatible.aspx

I only have a nodding acquaintance with PagePlus, and while it can do the job, I found it very hard to set up, the more so for ad hoc jobs. I also found ACD Systems' FotoSlate 4 Photo Print Studio http://store.acdsee.com/DRHM/servlet...uctID=69650700 which seems to be able to do the job (I haven't tried it). Picasa only seems to offer the same set of options as Windows itself.

May be this could be a useful plugin for IV?

It is possible with IV! Thanks to a post by Target in answer to a similar query I posted on Donation Coder, it turns out that the thumbnail feature of IV can be set to what configuration you want. OK, I'd maybe like it more automated in a more visual-GUI way, but for my simple purposes, it's good enough. For details, here's Target's post, with mine following: http://www.donationcoder.com/Forums/...2222#msg192222

An other way may be to save your images to a pdf first (using the tiles settings to control the number of columns and rows on the page) and second to print this PDF. In Preview mode during save you can see the result before you print and do some reorder.
