Reported can't read file header - main.bmp

Downloaded utorrent program icons are named as "main.bmp" files.

Irfanview 4.36 says it can't read file header. I have an Irfanview 3.0 and tried to open it. It says "main.bmp is a ico/cur file. This file has incorrect extension". I tried other old version and I came up to Irfanview 3.20 to read files with wrong extension. All other versions up to 4.36 can't detect it as wrong extension.

Is this a bug or is there a something I missed in the setting. Unicode plugin is already selected and loaded.

Might be a bug, but more likely just because IrfanView doesn't support 32-bit BMP format. The file looks fine when previewed in Windows Explorer (Windows 7), but it looks blurred in Opera. PagePlus doesn't display it properly at all.

Open it in Windows Paint, save as 24-bit PNG, open in IrfanView, save 1-bit transparency.

I have Irfanview 4.36 in my pc with winxp sp2 and laptop with win7 sp1 and both can't open this file with wrong extension. If this is a bug, I hope the author will fix it like how it is done in version 3.0 . It will give you a notice that this file has a wrong extension (ico) then exceute it with option of sizes typical of an ico file and display it. Irfanview 3.0 did open the main.bmp as an ico and display it as 256x256 true color. Now that I know it is an ico, I will process it with Microangelo. Hope the author fix it soon and will wait for the next version. Thanks.

Irfanview is now 4.37 but still can't read file header-main.bmp.
This file is an icon file and renamed as bmp.
