Fixed In win10 x64 the "Browse Subfolders" only shows . and ..

    Using IrfanView 4.41 x86 in win10 x64.

Whenever you view the last image in the current folder, the "Browse Subfolders" window appears.
Well, the issue is that in win10 x64 it only offers you to stay in the current folder (.) or go to the parent folder (..).
No other contained folders in the current folder are listed.
Here is a screenshot from my c:\Users\Kostas\Downloads folder, where I have a lot of subfolders containing images:

The above occurs in any folder.

On the other hand, trying 4.41 x86 in win XP x86 it works ok.

No problem here on Windows 7 64-bit either.

How is it with other folders and subfolders of them, like My Pictures?

It occurs in all folders as I mentioned in my OP (incl. 'Pictures').

FWIW I even tried launching IrfanView as administrator, but the issue remains

I can confirm that my IV v4.41 did just what zak says using 32-bit Windows 7 system.
I had not noticed because since the extra option to "Do nothing" after the last image was included, that is the setting I use if I do not want to loop the show.
Same thing with the v4.40 I have on my desktop. No sub-folders shown in the dialog. However when I checked with the v4.40 that I have on a USB stick that did display the sub-folders.

It occurs to me that both the v4.40 and v4.41 I have on my desktop are patched test versions with one or more of Irfan's "fixes" included.
Is your copy of Irfanview an original version as released, zak?

I have just received a new test version from Irfan related to a completely different problem which was reported on this forum some time ago. When I installed this over his previous test version of v4.41 all the subfolders are back in the "Browse subfolders" dialog.

I have now put back my original downloaded 4.41 (the 32-bit released version) and, guess what, the subfolders are missing from the dialog again.

So I can confirm that there does seem to be a problem but I suspect Irfan probably knows about it.
Is it making things difficult for you, zak?

As I said before I usually set the "Do nothing" option because I have never much liked that "Browse subfolders" dialog.
If I need to go to a subfolder I just use File > Open and choose the subfolder from there.

Yes, I really miss that feature.
I'm dealing with a lot of images (in many folders) all the time, and "Browse subfolders" had been proved very helpful.

Indeed, this feature is really useful for me too, for the same reason!

Well you can try the latest test version from Irfan Skiljan (28/2/06) that I have attached. It is a 32-bit version of 4.41 and on my computer the dialog after the last image does show subfolders again. The How_to.txt file included tells you how to use it.

I have not asked him about this particular problem. He sent the test version to me to check something completely different and I make a point of only discussing one issue at a time with him. Otherwise it just gets too confusing for everyone.

Irfan Skiljan has now confirmed to me that it is a problem known to him which sometimes occurs in Win7 and Vista. He does have a fix which is, as suspected, included in his current test version and will be in the next released version of the program.
