Expected: prev/next image displayed
Actual: Browse Subfolders dialog appears; (.) folder selection reports 0 Files

Is the "View all files in directory.." checkbox enabled in Settings, Browsing/Editing?

Yes; also checked with fresh install

Perhaps check also Settings, Extensions. Select "Load custom file types" and click "Load default extensions" to repopulate the list.

Initially here was 'Load only associated types... ' selected and JPG checkbox unchecked (btw same time IV starts for JPG)

If you have problems with file associations, you can try to do this by starting IrfanView as administrator. Or simply use the Windows control panel. The later option seems to be more convenient, when both, 32- and 64-bit version of IV are installed, and is also recommended on Windows 10. I have no experience with your OS version.

(It is available in profile settings on this forum though. Please, fill in your forum profile - IV version, OS, number of cores.)
