I forward the bug report to Irfan Skiljan. Let's see what he says. Does anyone else have 4.27 to test this?

I have obtained version 4.27 from this source, and it most certainly works in a different way, being almost as fast as the current 64-bit version. Updated results:

The attached test version fixes this.

Irfan set a memory limit of 512 Mbyte RAM for 32-bit, using temporary files for large images, which is slow. He increased the limit to 1 Gbyte in the attached test version.
