Exif info not available in Irfanview, but viewable in other software

See example image, Exif data looks to be missing in Ifranview while it is available in other software like Opera, Xnview etc. File has been edited and saved in photoshop then renamed and changed timestamp in Xnview.

What info is missing exactly? There seems to be plenty of Exif data in the file.

Maybe some IV plugins are missing? Check for exif.dll in Help, Installed Plugins.

Ah, sorry, here is the picture from which the attachment above is cropped. This one is not showing any exif data in Irfanview.

If you save the file from IrfanView the Exif data is available in the saved copy. Do other images from the same source exhibit this behaviour?

if you don't change the name and timestamp in XnView, is the Exif data still lost?

This might be a bug in XnView.

          yeah, found steps to reproduce:

The file needs first to be saved as jpg in Photoshop CS5, then batch resized in Xnview, only batch resizing in Xnview will not make the Exif data disappear in Ifranview, neither will just saving it in Photoshop.

Still, the Exif data is only missing in Irfanview after these steps, not in other programs.

All the indications point to a bug in XnView that is producing an invalid file header somewhere. The fact that other programs are able to detect the Exif data does not indicate a bug in IrfanView. FastStone Image Viewer also does not display the Exif data until it has been resaved from IrfanView.

If the file is saved from IrfanView without the buggy header, then the Exif data reappears. Ask the author of XnView to fix it since that it the source of the faulty file. If the file is valid (straight from PhotoShop or IfanView), then IrfanView can detect and display the Exif data. Maybe it could be more tolerant of a defective image header, but I don't see that as a bug in IrfanView.
